Troopers from the Wurtsboro barracks responded to a reported hit-and-run incident involving a school bus that was discharging students on Burlingham Road in Bloomburg on Friday, Feb. 1.

Police said that it was determined that a Jeep Liberty had failed to stop for the flashing red lights of a stopped school bus, striking it as the vehicle passed by. No injuries were reported.

The investigation into the incident found that the Jeep was being driven by Bloomingburg resident Lydia Haug, 24, who failed to stop after striking the bus and continued to her home.

The following day, investigators located Haug, who was taken into custody. Hang was issued tickets for overtaking a school bus, leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, and crossing hazardous markings.  Investigators noted that further charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
